So Willow's a pretty smart kid. Last night she sat with me and we talked about Myanmar and the cyclone etc. She understands it all very well of course. Yet today when we were going over something really really simple for her schooling she went to outer space on me.
Have you ever watched monsters inc that cool pixar kids movie? If you have do you recall the part where Randall the bad guy lizard monster has Mikey cornered against the wall and Randall's asking Mikey what happens when the whistle blows? Mikey's response was a real slow and unsure answer of "Everyone gets a time out?" Randall's reply "NO!" "Everyone goes to lunch which means the scare floor will be...." Mikey's reply "painted?" It was more like he was answering the question with a question when he answered. Of course it was the wrong answer. The scare floor would be EMPTY not painted.
WELL... Imagine that kind of answer coming from Willow, my smart kid who's a wiz with math, politics, earth changes, government issues and economics, over a simple guess the ending word game.
Mom: "Playing games is lots of_____"
Willow: "FUN"
Mom: "Today is hot out in the _____"
Willow: "SUN"
Mom: "How fast can you _______"
Willow: "RUN"
Mom: "I need a hamburger in my______"
Willow: "HOUSE" ?
Of course she sounded just like Mikey, answering the question with a question emphasis on the end of the word house. Lordy! She could not get the answer at all. I had to give it to her.
Back to the books :)
