About the Author

Born & raised in upstate New York, Mat attended Syracuse University in the school of Visual & Performing Arts, majoring in Metalsmithing.  Upon completing school, instead of becoming a jeweler or some other form of metalsmithing professional, he moved to New Orleans and began pursuing a career in the IT field, specializing in personal computer diagnostics and repair.

While in New Orleans he met his beautiful future wife and mother of four beautiful daughters, and upon her urging became a tour guide for the famous Haunted History Tours, Inc. of New Orleans.  Consequently Mat became one of the few computer geeks in the world who are able to communicate with large audiences, despite his acute stage fright.

Brigitte and Mat were married on December 11th, 2000 and lived together in New Orleans until September, 2005.  They were forced to evacuate the flooded city with their two daughters while Brigitte was pregnant with their third, during the aftermath immediately following Hurricane Katrina.  This experience has brought Mat to a new level of understanding about the meaning of life and what is truly important, and is forever grateful that his family survived the disaster relatively unscathed.

Mat currently lives with his family in the middle of nowhere, otherwise known as west central Ohio, and keeps himself sane by fiddling with Drupal website development, Ubuntu LAMP server administration, and playing video games on his custom computer running #! (Crunchbang) LINUX.  He presently works full time in the IT field as a support consultant and lead technician.
